To our members and community,

At Boxing Works, the health and wellbeing of our members and staff is our top priority. Amid national and local preventive measures being taken to delay the spread of coronavirus, we are keeping an eye on the information provided by the CDC, and are staying ready to respond accordingly.

At this time, there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in the South Bay, and our local government has not placed restrictions on our type of business. As such we will currently be remaining open. In order to ensure our facility is a particularly safe environment, we are taking on additional cleaning and safety measures, on top of our usual and regular cleaning and disinfecting of mats, bathrooms, mitts and other commonly used equipment.

We are, as always, providing hand soap, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting spray throughout the gym for yourself and your gear. Our staff is also being directed to clean commonly used areas and equipment throughout the day using wipes and spray that are available throughout the gym for our members to use.

Moreover, it is recommended that each member:

  • Stay home for at least 14 days if you are sick or need to care for a sick family member.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after training.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Cover mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.

  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces often, including gloves, phones, keys, etc.

While we are opting to remain open, we will continue to take appropriate actions as directed by government officials. In the mean time, it’s important that we not panic and continue to use common senseprecautions to help mitigate the spread of infection.

We value each and every one of our members, and we appreciate you doing your part to keep our community safe. If you have any questions or concerns regarding training or our facility, feel free to reach out.

This page will be updated as necessary.

Boxing Work’s homegrown Janet “JT” Todd, ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion

Janet started Muay Thai in college, as a way to stay fit and learn self-defense. After having a single fight, which she won by TKO, she retired her gloves to focus on her career. It was a few years later that she rediscovered her passion for the sport, and began her training at Boxing Works. After 7 years of hard work and dedication, dozens of fights at the local and global level, Janet signed onto the biggest Muay Thai and Kickboxing promotion in the world — ONE Championship.

Her debut fight was against Stamp Fairtex, for the Atomweight Muay This World Champion title. Janet lost a close and exciting decision fight, which only fueled her desire to not only improve her skills but prove she deserved a world championship belt. With the help of the team at Boxing Works, most importantly head coach Bryan Popejoy, and teammates like Jackie Buntan, Janet blazed through her next 3 ONE Championship fights, winning 2 by KO (including a highlight reel head-kick knockout) and a third by decision. As such, Janet earned a chance to rematch the reigning kickboxing champion Stamp Fairtex, and another shot at the world champion title.

After a close and exciting fight, Janet edged a victory on the judges scorecards, and is now the ONE Championship Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion. While it takes a village to build and support a fighter into the world championship level, Janet owes her incredibly well-deserved victory to her champion’s work ethic first and foremost. Inspiring her teammates, and thousands around the globe, Janet Todd is a true example of what it means to work for and achieve that which you set your mind to.

We are very proud to have Janet as our student, coach and teammate! Congratulations, JT!
